Really a Reality Based Community?

Fri Dec 24, 2004 at 06:49:03 AM PDT

Leonard Pitts Jr has a great column in the Miami Herald that touches on the group think and biased that takes place in all political circles, including here.

A question for my Republican friends: Would you still love George W. Bush if he were Bill Clinton?

Seriously. If it were Clinton who had invaded Iraq based on erroneous intelligence, Clinton whose decisions had led to the deaths of over 1,200 soldiers, would you be foursquare behind him the way you are for Bush? Would you still support him even as he is vilified by half the country and much of the world?

And for my Democratic friends: Would you have felt the same about Clinton had he been Bush?

Had it been Bush who had an affair with a White House intern, Bush who looked the nation in the eye and lied about it, would you have been so willing to forgive? Would you still have opposed removing him from office?

In other words, are you guilty of double standards and outright bias?

I'll save you the trouble: Yes.

yes, there's more

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 02:19:07 PM PDT

As I sit here, staring at the heartless electoral map divided into red and blue, missing the white, disputed Ohio, I know that John Kerry cannot win it or the election. The dream is over, but it is not dead.

I entered this campaign not as a Bush hater, as so many have. I entered it has a true Kerry fan, because in him, I see what I want to be. John Forbes Kerry knew he wanted to be president from a young age. Classmates used to whistle "Hail to the Chief" as he walked by, but he knew what he wanted, went for it, and came 1 percentage point short. Different day, different year, possibly a different result. I have the same aspiration as Senator Kerry and likewise I am slightly mocked. At age 17, you are supposed to want to go to the beach with girls, not become a political junkie. But I need my fix.

Connection between Terror alerts and Democratic success?

Mon Sep 20, 2004 at 02:21:14 PM PDT

After Kos's post today, I went to google to see what the correlation between terror alerts and bad news for Bush. I found this site.

http://juliusblog.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_juliusblog_archive.html#109156476570482138

Go to August 3rd and Give it a look. I dont want to boost it wholesale. Here is an example.

July 6, 2004 -- Kerry names Edwards as his running mate.

July 8, 2004 - Tom Ridge holds a press conference on terror alerts over the summer and during the conventions.

July 11, 2004 -- Senior White House officials discuss the possibility of delaying the elections in case of a terrorist attack.

They have sources there two. Pretty interesting.

Whats the background on Porter Goss?

Tue Aug 10, 2004 at 08:11:53 AM PDT

AOL reports today that Bush wants Florida lawmaker Porter Goss to run the CIA. What is the background on this guy? Is he another right wingnut or is he an actually choice we could all live with

Edwards and Trial Lawyers

Sun Aug 01, 2004 at 09:28:28 PM PDT

I am going to give the view of trail lawyers from a doctor's point of view. Don't get me wrong, I support Edwards, but he does seem to fit the mold of an ambulence chaser.

He has been playing up the fact that he interviewed some obscene number of OB/GYN's like 35 for a law suit he won. This is suppose to be valiant. That means over 30 OB/GYN's said there was no reason for the law suit. Only one supported him. Yet her pursued it, won, and took his 40%. My mother, a doctor, really has a problem with this.

Just remember, Edwards does have a dark side that will be hard to fight off. Luckily Mel Martinez is one too. Trial lawyer rap won't be popping up in florida much

Debate Tickets

Fri Jul 30, 2004 at 07:35:37 AM PDT

I live like five blocks away from the University of Miami where the first presidential debate will be held on Sept 30. Does anyone know if it is still possible to get tickets to this. I'd give an arm and a leg to watch Kerry destroy Bush

Check the facts

Thu Jul 15, 2004 at 10:09:13 AM PDT

In Newsweeks recent issue with Kerry and Edwards on the cover they give an outlook on other liberal documentaries. About the anticipated Greenwald film, Outfoxed, Newsweek says the film "accuses Fox News- despite polling numbers showing otherwise- of a right wing bias."

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5411788/site/newsweek/

Where are these polling numbers. I remember reading(I dont remember where) that Republican guests on Fox outnumbered Democrats by at least 2-1. Fox is extremely biased.
